Valentine Boxes

I was excited that I only had to make valentine boxes for 2 kids this year so apparently I needed something else to take up all the free time.

 I decided Dolittle needed a shirt for preschool, so I made him a shirt and then made one for Princess B as well.

 Here is  Mr.K's Box.

 Dolittle wanted an alligator. He is so excited to take his box to school.

Valentine boxes

Here are the rest of the Valentines and the boxes I made for the kids this year.

These are Little Man's. I  found the idea last year at Skip to my Lou and then a few months after finding it I found it as an svg file HERE and then when I was looking for ideas for him, I remembered that I had it and decided to make them.

 I thought oh they will be fast and easy...I really need to re-think projects when it involves making 21. They weren't hard, just time consuming.

I planned on printing the inside of the mouth from skip to my lou that said "I'd snap at the chance to be your Valentine" and glue it on, but I ran out of time and was unable to print them.

 Miss K wanted to make a rubix cube, so a rubix cube we made

 It turned out cute and was pretty easy to make. Used a 12x12x12 box,covered in black wrapping paper and fun foam cut into 3 1/2 inch squares.

Mr K wasn't sure what kind of box to make and kept changing his mind. The other day I was talking to my SIL and I asked if her kids were making boxes and she said yeah "T is making a toilet" and I knew Mr K would love that idea.

I was right, when I told him he should make a toilet he quickly responded ok.

 Here is his toilet. There are quite a few tutorials if you google toilet valentine box. I did not follow any one particular one.

I really wanted to put a recording of a flushing in it with a button they could push but the device to do that was more than I wanted to spend. I think I should have added a handle...oops.

Guess that is what happens when you finish making Valentines and boxes at 1:00 in the morning.

As for Mr.K's valentine's he picked what he wanted and I was supposed to print some stuff off and was not able to with everything that was going on so I woke up early this morning and printed them out and put them together before he had to leave for school.

I forgot to share the valentine shirt I made for Princess B so here it is. It turned out much cuter than I had hoped.

Owl Valentines

This year it was like pulling teeth to get the kids to decide what they wanted to pass out for Valentine's 

 This is Miss K's I found the idea HERE.Used my cricut and craft room to cut them all out. Instead of putting them into individual baggies like she did, I stapled the topper to the m&m's before putting on the eyes.

I just noticed I totally forgot to add the bows...but I guess the kids will never know. I did the red for the boys and pink for  the girls.

I am still working on the other kids' Valentines, when I get them done I will post them.

Craft Day

My mom and my niece came over for a craft day today. We were going to sew but I thought it would be more fun to do a wood project since I just finished working on a few projects 

  I bought this snowman last year from Wood Connection and had it all painted, just not glued together, well I decided it needed a fresh coat of paint since it sat around getting scratched and dusty. So I painted it again and glued it all together. I just need to finish his piece for his hat, maybe I can get that done next year.

 For Christmas my Mother-in-law gave each family a stand and hanger with the blocks that said jingle from Heartfelt Wall Hangings. So I decided that I couldn't leave it plain so I went and bought the Let it snow blocks and painted them up. I need to add some glitter.

I know a little late now that January is almost over, but it will be all done for next year.

Talk about a present that keeps me busy. I have to go get February's blocks in the next week or so.

We had a lot of fun doing them and plan on having another craft day to work on something for St. Patrick's Day.

Valentines/boxes

My two girls had to make Valentine boxes for school this year. My son's class was making them in class so he didn't need to make one.

B found her idea and made hers all on her own.

She made a locker. She started with a pop tart box and covered it with paper and duct tape. then she made a lock out of fun foam and paper and decorated it with their school mascot.

Then she decorated the inside with stickers and different things.

I love that when she gets an idea in her head she figures out a way to execute it and is so creative. I am not sure where she gets her drawing ability though because I can't even draw stick figures.

B volunteers in the library at her school during both of her recess times and wanted to give something to both the librarians

I remembered that I had bought these cute tins last year after Valentines day to use so I pulled two of them out and we filled it with some m&m's and some heart earrings that I embroidered. She then made a cute holder for the earrings and tied some curling ribbon on to the handle. And we had two cute gifts for her to give to the librarians.

I showed my other daughter a few ideas for her box and she picked this one(which is not a box at all)

But a backpack. She was so happy when she saw it all done. I think it turned out so cute. I wanted to do it on pink felt, but I didn't have any and the store I went to didn't either. Also I probably should have used white buttons, but didn't think about that until I was already home working on it. I also embroidered her name on the flap where it is white.

I saw this idea last year all over the internet,but the tutorial I used for this one I found here Chair backpack.I did not follow it exactly, but I used it as a base. I did not line mine because I was running out of time.

And the back view. I put a piece of Velcro on the top of one of  the straps so she could adjust it to fit on her chair.

Not only did we work on Valentine boxes tonight, we still had to do valentines. I have been trying to get the kids to decide what they wanted to do since the 1st of February. After all the cute/fun ideas I showed them 

K deciced that she just wanted to do fun dips. I know boring huh?

B  picked fruit roll ups, but didn't want to put a cute saying let alone her name on them she said she would just put them in each box. 

my son had mentioned that he wanted to to do these super hero suckers that are all over pinterest

but it seemed that everyone was doing them so we decided to use the fruit by the foot that we already had here and this is what we came up with.

As for the teachers I made cute candy dishes and filled them with m&m's that I found on Eighteen 25's  blog. Of course I forgot to take pictures. Here is what theirs looks like

Mine were similar, but I found different bowls. I also made them for the ladies I visit teach and my visiting teaching partner. 

It is a good thing that Hubby was home and willing to help or I would have been up all night.
