Cute baby gift

I am a part of a machine embroidery club that meets once a month and the cute lady in charge made me this cute pillow for our new little princess.
She embroidered her name and stats on it. Isn't it so cute.

Blue and Gold banquet

***UPDATE 2-6-13 I have been receiving many comments from people that would like to use the subway art or with other questions, I am not ignoring you, you are just non reply commenters, so I am unable to reply to you. I would LOVE to send it to anyone that would like it, but please make sure you are not a non reply commenter. HERE is a great way to find out if you are and how to fix it. If you do not want to fix it please include your email address in your comment or email me directly @ crafttalesfromtheunknown@gmail.com
Thanks.

As you know I have been working on the Blue and Gold Banquet for several weeks. If you remember we are doing a space theme. Well tonight was the big night. I have to say it all came together with very little complications.
These are the rockets I made for some of the center pieces I found the idea Here. Instead of confetti like they used I just used gold glitter because that is what I had.
Here is the subway art I made and posted about earlier put in frames. The frames are not my favorite, but they were the right price and the gold coloring worked good for what we were using them for.
Here is the other subway art. I alternated these on each of the tables.
I found this cute idea from this site HERE and decided they would be really cute on our tables. So I ran out to Lowes and picked up paint chips in the colors we needed. I had to make 80 of them so I made several trips to get enough

. I just sewed the two together on my machine and then using the cuttlebug I cut out the scalloped shape. I wish I had made them a litttle bit bigger, but it was too late. I then used photoshop to make cupcake toppers using our logo and then printed them 12 to a sheet and used the cuttlebug again to cut them out.

We were fortunate enough to borrow some decorations from my SIL's friend so the styrofoam squares with the garland are hers. I had seen this idea before, but they used a half circle to make them and I they were pricey. I didn't think about using square ones, I wish I had though, because they were so cute on the tables. We put some colored paper under each center piece to give it a little pop of color.

We ended up having to add a few more tables, so we did not have enough of the rockets and styrofoam squares for each table so we placed them randomly around, but each table got a subway art print.
Here is the table with the plates and silverware holders and centerpieces. Besides the clear cups, I think it turned out so cute.
We strung blow up space shuttles(which were also borrowed) between the basketball hoops. We also borrowed the photo op that you can see in the back of the picture, and the constellations that you can see around the room.
We had each boy/family bring a space themed dessert and had a contest. This is K's cake that his Aunt so nicely made for him. He won the award for the cake with the most blue and gold.
 Doodle the alien
K and Doodle in space.
This is the only picture I got of the dessert table. We had some really cute and fun desserts. There are some creative boys in our pack.

I had a so much fun planning this and hope I get to do it again next year, but I will say that I am exhausted and am glad to be getting a break soon (well at least for 6 weeks after we have the baby right)

Learning to knit

B and I had a chance to go to a RS activity tonight to learn to knit this really cute scarf. I figured I would not wear one but knew B would so I bought the stuff to have her learn how to make it.
Isn't it so cute? It is made with "ruffle yarn" I know that is not the true name of it, but everyone knows what you are talking about when you ask for it and it is hard to find as far as I have been told there are only 2 places that carry it locally.

Yes it is being modeled on my younger daughter, because B had on an ugly orange shirt and a towel wrapped around her wet hair.

She had so much fun making it that she started another one because K decided she wants one, although I know what will happen...B will make it for her, and she will not wear it and B will end up taking it and wearing it instead.

She also wants to make one for her friend's b-day.

Valentines/boxes

My two girls had to make Valentine boxes for school this year. My son's class was making them in class so he didn't need to make one.

B found her idea and made hers all on her own.
She made a locker. She started with a pop tart box and covered it with paper and duct tape. then she made a lock out of fun foam and paper and decorated it with their school mascot.
Then she decorated the inside with stickers and different things.

I love that when she gets an idea in her head she figures out a way to execute it and is so creative. I am not sure where she gets her drawing ability though because I can't even draw stick figures.

B volunteers in the library at her school during both of her recess times and wanted to give something to both the librarians
I remembered that I had bought these cute tins last year after Valentines day to use so I pulled two of them out and we filled it with some m&m's and some heart earrings that I embroidered. She then made a cute holder for the earrings and tied some curling ribbon on to the handle. And we had two cute gifts for her to give to the librarians.

I showed my other daughter a few ideas for her box and she picked this one(which is not a box at all)

But a backpack. She was so happy when she saw it all done. I think it turned out so cute. I wanted to do it on pink felt, but I didn't have any and the store I went to didn't either. Also I probably should have used white buttons, but didn't think about that until I was already home working on it. I also embroidered her name on the flap where it is white.

I saw this idea last year all over the internet, but the tutorial I used for this one I found here Chair backpack.I did not follow it exactly, but I used it as a base. I did not line mine because I was running out of time.
Here is a side view
And the back view. I put a piece of Velcro on the top of one of  the straps so she could adjust it to fit on her chair.

Not only did we work on Valentine boxes tonight, we still had to do valentines. I have been trying to get the kids to decide what they wanted to do since the 1st of February. After all the cute/fun ideas I showed them

K deciced that she just wanted to do fun dips. I know boring huh?
B  picked fruit roll ups, but didn't want to put a cute saying let alone her name on them she said she would just put them in each box.
my son had mentioned that he wanted to to do these super hero suckers that are all over pinterest
but it seemed that everyone was doing them so we decided to use the fruit by the foot that we already had here and this is what we came up with.

As for the teachers I made cute candy dishes and filled them with m&m's that I found on Eighteen 25's  blog. Of course I forgot to take pictures. Here is what theirs looks like
Mine were similar, but I found different bowls. I also made them for the ladies I visit teach and my visiting teaching partner.

It is a good thing that Hubby was home and willing to help or I would have been up all night.

Baptism subway art

Yes I have been MIA but for good reason. I have been so busy trying to get everything done before I have baby number 6 which will hopefully be next week. My son just got baptized today and I thought I would share the subway art that I made to put out with pictures of him around the room.

February card swap

I am in a card swap group with 12 ladies and each month we have a theme and make 12 cards for that theme and then we get together and swap cards and we come home with 12 different cards. This months theme was Baby so here is my card I made

I made both girl ones and...
boy ones.

I am not excited how they turned out. I guess they are ok, but it seems to me like something is missing. If you look close(but not too close because my stitching is awful) you may notice that I sewed the straps, and pockets on with my machine.
